Michigan's winter has been frigid. Your heat is cranked up! Naturally your skin is going to dry out. But not to worry, we have some simple skin tips to help you trudge through and prep your skin for spring!
1. Don't skip your cleanser!
Cleansing your skin may seem like it's over-drying, but don't skip this step. Cleansing your skin is an absolute must. Try to limit yourself to 2-3 times per day and ensure that you're not using a harsh cleanser in the winter.
Try Thymes Oilve Leaf Bar Soap, an all vegetable bar soap rich in natural skin conditioners, olive oil and olive leaf extracts. Available at Weekends!
2. Exfoliate! (But don't overdo it!)
Another myth is that using an exfoliating scrub will rid your skin of flakiness. While exfoliating is vital, when you're dealing with sensitive, dry winter skin try not to overdo it. Exfoliating can actually further dry your skin. Choose a scrub that also offers moisture-rich oils and vitamins.
Try The Cottage Greenhouse Carrot & Neroli Fine Salt Scrub made with Avocado Oil, Carrot Oil & Cocoa Butter. Available at Weekends!
3. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Did we say moisturize?
Thicker isn't always better. Use a moisturizer that works for you. Once you have a moisturizer you love, ensure that you are using it religiously. You should never go a day without moisturizing, especially in the winter months. Keep a container of moisturizer right next to every bottle of hand wash to create a habit.
Try Thymes Olive Leaf body lotion, rich shea butter, olive oil and naturally derived emollients combined with olive leaf extract and vitamin E. Available at Weekends!
4. Prep your home.
The air in your home may be more drying. Using a humidifier to counteract the dryness can help you fight off dry skin. Also, avoid super-hot baths and showers. Instead, opt for luke-warm. The hot water dehydrates the skin.
