Black Forest Date Night Fondue


Black Forest Date Night Fondue

Makes 5 to 6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 cups whipping cream

  • 1/2 pound bittersweet chocolate, chopped

  • 1/4 cup sour cherry jam or other cherry preserves (Try Stonewall Kitchen or American Spoon)

  • 1 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice

  • Dash of salt

  • Fruit for serving

  • Cubes of poundcake for serving

  • Marshmallows for serving

  • Pretzels for serving

Directions:

  • In a large saucepan, warm the cream over medium-low heat until bubbles appear around edges of pan. Remove from heat and gradually stir in chocolate, letting each addition melt before adding more. Stir in jam, cherry juice and salt.

Transfer to a fondue pot. Regulate flame under pot to keep it as low as possible. If it begins to boil, turn off heat. Serve with maraschino cherries, sliced bananas, cubes of poundcake and marshmallows.
